Our Evolution since 2004
CEMASTEA was established in 2004 to provide continuous professional development for teachers in Mathematics and Science. Our roots lie in the SMASSE (Strengthening of Mathematics and Science in Secondary Education) project.
In 2014, we reached a pivotal milestone, transitioning into a State Corporation under the Ministry of Education, solidifying our mandate to transform STEM pedagogy across Kenya and the continent.
The Foundation
Establishment of CEMASTEA through the collaboration of the Kenyan Government and JICA, focusing on SMASSE principles.
State Corporation
Transformation into a State Corporation, broadening the scope of impact and institutional autonomy.

Serving as a continental hub for SMASE-Africa, hosting 27 member countries for STEM excellence.
